Learn What to Expect at PlixPlex

PlixPlex is the first and only challenge arcade on the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Become the main character with an immersive interactive gaming experience. When you arrive, you and your group are equipped with armbands that allow you to seamlessly check into any of our games as much as you want (usually a 2 or 4 hour pass). Enjoy a wide range of games from mental challenges like puzzle escape rooms to physical games traversing pressure pads across a room. Each game lasts about three minutes and you won’t know what the next challenge is until you enter the room.

What Makes PlixPlex Unique

No Fail States

In other challenge arcades, you typically encounter fail states and this is treated as an integral part of challenge arcade design, but we see this as the most common reason that people bounce off of the games. Waiting 2-3 minutes to get into a game only to be booted out of the room in 5 seconds creates friction and affects the gamers experience. At PlixPlex our games are designed so that you can always snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Avoiding fail states like “if you press the wrong button, the game fails and you need to exit the room”. All of our games are designed to last longer (almost always three minutes) and have no fail states.

Meta Progression

The most important distinction between our challenge arcade and all others is, meta progression. At other challenge arcades, you earn points to reach the top of the leaderboard, and you are rewarded with the inherent fun you got playing it. At PlixPlex, you can unlock achievements by approaching each game in a unique way. Each game has three achievements to unlock, unlock enough of them to win free prizes and gain access to hidden boss levels that you can only play by unlocking them. We track your group’s achievements across visits so you can pick up where you left off when you return.
