Learn About Our Gaming Zone; Viking Village
PlixPlex is the first and only challenge arcade in Virginia Beach on the Oceanfront that offers interactive gaming zones each with their own unique theme and challenges. PlixPlex is split into four gaming zones today you will learn about one of our favorite gaming zones; The Viking Village.
The Viking Village
The Viking Village has players completing various challenges themed around different gods from viking mythology including Frey, Ullr, Odin, Thor and Surtr. Viking Village will have a total of 6 games (4 of which will be operational at our facility’s grand opening!).
Gulli Cubb
Players are assisting Frey, the god of good harvest, by planting seeds in a forest by throwing balls into holes that are arranged along a ramp. Point values vary as the holes that are farther away from the shooting area are worth more points, and the holes that are closer to the shooting area are worth less.
Shield Wall
Help Ullr, the god of winter, decipher images to determine which shield best fits the situation. A TV displays a grid of black, grey, and yellow squares. The grey squares will create a pattern, for example, a skull. In the room there are stained glass pictures of shields arranged in patterns. In this example, we would look for a picture that has the shields arranged in a skull. On the TV screen, one of these gray squares is yellow which indicates which shield we need to look for in the picture. In this example, on the skull picture, the shield that corresponds with the yellow square is red with a yellow swirl. We then need to find the red shield with a yellow swirl and press the button. This is currently our most complicated game!
Totem Tower
Has players assembling a totem for Odin, the god of wisdom. There are four buttons in the room, they are red, green, yellow, and blue. Players will press a combination of these colors and the TV screen will confirm how many colors are correct. For example, we press red, green, yellow, blue. The TV screen tells us that 2 are correct, meaning 2 colors are in the correct spot. Players now need to use deductive reasoning to determine which colors are correct, and which are incorrect.
Hammer Time
Forge a hammer with Thor in this is a dueling game. There are two barrels, both with one button on top and a large decorative foam hammer. A TV screen will count down from a random number at a random speed. The timer will disappear after a few seconds and players need to hit their button with the hammer when they believe the timer has reached zero.
Surtr’s Steps
Dodge lava fields created by Surtr, the god of lava. This room is filled with raised pads decorated to look like lava rocks. These rocks light up, green rocks are safe to step on while Red rocks should be avoided. Every few seconds, the rocks change color. Players should also avoid stepping on the floor. This game is our version of “the floor is lava.”
